My son had meningitis at 3 weeks old that left him with some minor delays. He wasn’t able to hold his head up for a while so developed brachycephaly and plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome).

He needed a corrective helmet to allow his head to grow properly and stop it from deforming any further. The NHS do not fund this treatment as it is seen as cosmetic treatment for babies. Without a helmet my sons head would have been a very odd shape and wouldn’t have allowed him to wear a cycle helmet when he was older to learn to ride a bike, a PPE helmet so wouldn’t have been able to be a firefighter, policeman or work on a building site or even glasses or sunglasses as his ears wear not aligned.

Keith and his lovely wife donated money towards a corrective helmet as they cost just over £2000.

They stayed in touch with my sons journey of treatment and always wished him well. They also made sure my little girl who is nearly two years older than my son was looked after by giving her toys and a teddy bear she still has nearly two years later.

My sons head is now a lovely round shape and is able to wear hats and pretend helmets when he dresses up so the helmet has definitely worked for him.

Thank you so so much for your kind generosity and we look forward to seeing you both soon.
